Late last year, a52, Elastic, Primary, Rock Paper Scissors and MakeMake Entertainment all merged to become MakeMake. This is what MakeMake does: MakeMake Reel
People thought I was crazy to move away from the brand names everyone loved. Now I’m sharing why this decision was an essential step to meet the needs of right now. I’d love to hear your perspective because one thing we need as an Industry is a positive conversation about our future. hitusup@makemake.com
So why MakeMake?
People feel disenchanted - with technology, culture, the industry and with each other. A kind of toxic nostalgia has crept into a lot of our stories….and worse, a sense of hopeless cynicism. But you know when you’re watching something that hits you in the heart? That feeling of connecting to something bigger? The same feeling that probably got you into this business in the first place?
That’s re-enchantment.
You can’t make re-enchantment on a disenchantment machine. So no more Victorian assembly lines. No rigid silos, blind handoffs, or “thinkers vs. makers” divide.
Integration fosters re-enchantment.
New ideas don’t come from old systems. We’ve taken down the silos, brought in some key strategic hires and invested in new departments to reflect the needs of today. With this new structure we can connect the most esteemed artists with the most cutting edge tools across disciplines, moving more fluidly than ever from idea to production. The best part is the heart you feel in every aspect of the MakeMake process. You can still work with us “a la carte”, so if you need help with design, editing, vfx, color, finishing, music, or with a trailer, film or tv project, hitusup@makemake.com. However you collaborate with us, you’ll feel our new ecosystem.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks. I'll share what we’ve learned about this new way of working, and how we’re using new technologies to move from the commoditization of "content" back to the value of narrative “resonance."
The world is hungry to be re-enchanted. And over the past 35 years, we’ve built the studio to do it. So if you’re in LA, come by for coffee. I’m curious to know where you’re finding -or losing- your heart in your work these days. Or reach out at hitusup@makemake.com.
P.S. Yes, we can prototype. We invented it ;)
