This one’s for the soccer fans ⚽ or football, if you’re not in the US.
MakeMake is proud to have worked on the documentary Bukayo Saka: The Time is Now, from WhatsApp. The film was cut together by editors David Brodie, Shelly Rose, and Chris Mitchell, with VFX from creative director Andy McKenna.
The film captures the Arsenal FC star ahead of this year’s World Cup, as well as the people who have kept him grounded along the way, with a sneak peek into his close circle’s WhatsApp chats—including a message following Euro 2020, a pivotal point in his career.
Directed by Emmy-winner Robert Alexander, the film explores his steady rise in football. Saka is joined by legendary player Thierry Henry for a rare, intimate glimpse at what it takes to perform at the highest level, and how the power of connection helps him perform when the stakes are even higher.
Bukayo Saka: The Time is Now is currently streaming in select international markets, including the United States, along with the ESPN App and FOX One.
